Google Ad credits to help SME pass COVID-19

Google offer advertising credits for small and medium businesses (SMB) that have been advertising on Google since January 2019 for 10 of the 12 months in 2019 and also in January and / or February 2020. These credits can then be used at any Digital Marketing Company in Bath  point up to 31 December 2020, in each ad network Google: Search, Shopping, Display and YouTube. It is part of Google's broader response to COVID-19 crisis.

 Google ad credit

As we have learned to expect from Google, the announcement of free money shrouded in ambiguity. Therefore, we ask our contact Google if they could give us more details and have shared this knowledge in our posts along with updates to Google on April 20.

What criteria are used by Google to determine whether a business is SMB?

Google has not specified what they perceive as SMB. To compare, Facebook has a bid of their own "small business grants" to help SMB for COVID-19 crisis, in which they qualify for an SMB as a business that "has between 2 and 50 employees" and "has been in business for over a year."

How many advertising credits will be worth, in real monetary terms?

Google update on April 20 stipulated that the monetary value of advertising credits will depend on advertiser spend and state history and the currency of the account. In addition, each advertiser will receive an ad credit, even if the advertisers have multiple Google Ad.

There is a total figure of $ 340 million which will probably be divided among all eligible SMB. Given the fact Google itself states that SMB "represents approximately 90 percent of all business", and that Google operates in many countries around the world, there will be a lot of business of which credit Google pot will be divided. However, not all SMB have an online presence, and they may not have ads with Google since January 2019.

By what date advertisers should expect to earn advertising credit?

Contact us at Google have said before on April 20 that "customers will begin to be told in this quarter (Q2)," and update Google confirms that the credit will be given from the end of May.

How advertisers are told that they have been given credit advertising?

Contact us at Google have said before that "customers will be informed gradually through email notifications and interfaces," but Google update on April 20 to clarify that advertisers who qualify will receive a notification on their accounts. From our experience running a Google Ad Grants account, where Google gives money to advertise in the form of credit non-profit organization, a notification appears in the notification area of the ads Google account which is represented by a bell icon and looks like this:
